The Revenge Of Alice Cooper Era
Background
The Revenge Of Alice Cooper is the 30th 'Alice Cooper' studio album and was released in July 2025. After numerous rumours, hints and all-out jumping the gun, it was finally confirmed that the surviving members of the Alice Cooper Group were reuniting for their first complete album since 1973's Muscle Of Love!

For the first time in over 50 years, the original Alice Cooper group has reunited to release a brand-new studio album, “The Revenge of Alice Cooper,” set to release on July 25th via earMUSIC.
This highly anticipated album is heralded as the successor to their iconic records “Schools Out,” “Billion Dollar Babies,” “Love It to Death,” and “Killer.”
The first single from the album, “Black Mamba,” is out today, featuring the legendary Robby Krieger of The Doors. This track serves as a venomous introduction to the new era of Alice Cooper, packed with familiar classic riffs and electrifying energy.
“The Revenge of Alice Cooper” is a high-voltage journey into vintage horror and classic ’70s shock rock, capturing the sound, energy, and mischief that made the original Alice Cooper band legendary. In a truly special moment, the album features a posthumous appearance by Glen Buxton, the band’s original guitarist who passed away in 1997, through an unreleased recording that seamlessly blends the past with the present on “What Happened To You,” featuring his original guitar part.
If that wasn’t cool enough, one of the bonus tracks (box set & limited smart format) also includes a long-lost gem from 1970 – a raw, alternate take of “Return of The Spiders” (not the version heard on Easy Action)—recently unearthed from original multi-tracks missing for 50 years and now enhanced and mixed by Bob Ezrin.
Alice, Neal, Michael, and Dennis have reunited with their producer Bob Ezrin in a old-school recording studio in Connecticut, rekindling the magic from the 70s.
This album is a celebration of friendship, nostalgia, and the timeless sound that solidified Alice Cooper as a rock icon. Fans can expect a powerful and nostalgic experience that bridges the gap between the band’s storied past and their vibrant present.
From the venomous bite of “Black Mamba” to the rebellious charge of “Wild Ones,” and the soft, haunting melodies of “See You on the Other Side,” every track feels like a rock ‘n’ roll classic.
Filling in for Glen Buxton for the majority of the album is guitarist Gyasi Hues, with additional appearances by Dennis Dunaway Project's Rick Tedesco and Robby Krieger of The Doors.
The album features striking artwork by Graham Humphreys, with Alice joined by Mike, Dennis and Neal, who are depicted as members of a vintage carnival freakshow (Mike looks especially strange, with a lobster claw!). After all these years it's great to see each member honoured with near equal prominence (something which didn't always happen in the past).
Six physical versions of the album were produced:
1. CD Digipak;
2. 'Ultimate Collector’s Edition' (numbered and limited to 5,000 copies) Box Set featuring:
> CD Digipak with the full album;
> Exclusive 7-inch vinyl featuring two bonus tracks;
> High-quality art print; and
> Exclusive Alice Cooper Shirt X-Large.
3. Black heavyweight double LP;
4. Violet marble heavyweight double LP (earMUSIC exclusive in Europe);
5. Yellow heavyweight double LP (Amazon exclusive in the UK); and
6. Fan Edition 'Smart Poster' (limited to 500 copies).
In the USA, TalkShop.Live offered the violet marble version with an additional 12" x 12" insert autographed by the Alice Cooper Group. Latterly, HMV in the UK would offer the black vinyl version with the same autographed insert for free (these understandably sold out very quickly). A CD 'Special Signed Edition' with a smaller 5" x 5" insert was also distributed in limited numbers by earMUSIC.
To celebrate the launch of the album the Alice Cooper Group travelled to London for an 'Exclusive Fan Event' the day before its official release. This featured a full play of the album followed by an hour-long questions and answers session together with Bob Ezrin. This was streamed live on the internet and you can read all about it via my blog here.
The first digital single from the album, Black Mamba, was premiered on 23rd April 2025 and received generally wide-spread acclaim. Dedicated to one of the most venomous snakes in the world, it features a haunting bass intro by Dennis before an ultra-menacing Alice (who plays the part of the snake) begins to toy with a potential victim while they lay in their bed. An infectious 'Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya' chorus is present, which is based on a New Orleans voodoo chant, brilliantly conveys the cocky, belligerent, nature of our slithery fiend. As with some of Alice's other recent work, he resorts to a spoken role during parts of the track. This has drawn criticism from some, but for me, it again works really well here. Standing in for Glen Buxton on this track is Robby Krieger of The Doors.
The next digital single to be released in advance of the album was Wild Ones, a straight-up rocker written by Dennis and Neal that has origins around the time of the Constrictor recording sessions (which they attended) and that latterly became a track on their friends, the Bouchard Brothers, The X Brothers Solid Citizens album in 1997.
The track sees Alice and co. declare their unruly authority over both the streets and the underground of your local town. I have to admit, when I first heard this track, I wasn't particularly enamoured. On reflection, I think this is mainly because it was accompanied by a laid-back, studio-based, video that is the complete antithesis of everything the song is about. Listening to it in isolation creates a very different experience though and it's here where it shines as the decent song that it actually is
The third and final digital single (again released in advance of the album) was Up All Night. Featuring an attention-grabbing, gritty, guitar introduction, things sadly take a turn for the worse as Alice again deviates to more of a spoken delivery during the verse. Worse still, the subject matter is his ability to literally 'keep it up all night', which just doesn't feel right on a number of levels. There isn't even any inuendo to hide behind (not that it would have helped, as the catastrophic Big Boots from Road proved a few years earlier). I suppose this song is intended to be a playful nod to the style of the Muscle Of Love album, but it all just comes across as too crass and obvious. This is a bit of a shame as the instrumentals are excellent.
With the first three tracks also being the three singles, the rest of the album is presented from tracks four to 14. As you prepare to play the album, you can’t help but consider the tightrope that was navigated, to acknowledge / celebrate their past whilst not turning it into a full-blown cabaret-style tribute.
Any concern that the best songs were reserved for the singles is quickly dispelled by the immense Kill The Flies. Originally a song of the same name by Neal Smith that features on his 2025 Killsmith, Hard In A Rock Place album, it has been respectfully and ingeniously sculpted into a classic that, for me at least, has echoes of Alice solo bangers like Wind Up Toy, Is Anyone Home and Vengeance Is Mine, with the committed Alice wondering the halls of an asylum fearing the devastation that hovering flies will cause. Mark my words, this is as good as anything we’ve heard for many a year.
One Night Stand could easily have been sent in a time machine from the 70’, it’s a pure slab of rock that would have been right at home on Billion Dollar Babies as Alice is guided from a strip club by dancers who’s only aim is to rob him blind and then butcher him. Alice has other plans though, as he reveals himself to be a serial killer.
The epic track of the album is undoubtedly Blood On The Sun, a mesmerising Dennis Dunaway anti-war masterpiece forged from the content of… old TV guides (listen carefully and the lyrics are comprised of 28 war film titles)! Some of Alice’s finest vocals, sensational instrumentals and unconventional presentation means we have on our hands a modern, ultra-refined, equivalent to the mighty Halo Of Flies from Killer.
Crap That Gets In The Way is another full-on 70s garage rocker with a modern twist that would happily sit on The Eyes Of Alice Cooper. This flirts with light-heartedness and absurdity much better than Up All Night, with Alice's petulant vocals a real highlight.
Famous Face is notable as, contrary to the album credits, Mike Bruce reassumes the role of lead vocalist for the first time since Easy Action (Alice is there in the background though). As with some of the other tracks on the album, there are seemingly similarities with Alice solo material. In this case you get definite hints of Shadow Of Yourself from the Along Came A Spider.
Money Screams is another track that could easily have lived on Billion Dollar Babies, with the cautionary tale of the stranglehold that “the monster in green” has over us all as we “work all our lives away”. This is an absolute gem and should definitely have been a single (how Up All Night got the nod ahead of this is beyond me).
The blues meet The Pink Panther, on Broadway!, as the classy tribute to the great Glen Buxton, What A Syd, oozes the class and swagger that he was notorious for. Recounting I Hate You from Detroit Stories, the group brutally turn one of his favourite sayings (his description of a nerd) against him. The music for this song was originally written by Dennis as a follow-up to Blue Turk from School's Out (with the working title 'Green Grotto').
Intergalactic Vegabond Blues carries the kind of title that would have graced the group's early days. In reality, it’s a comparatively conservative cosmic-based heartbreak boogie rocker that sees Alice dust off his harmonica.
Glen’s spirit lives on in What Happened To You, which features a cleaned-up and looped sample from an old demo tape unearthed from Dennis’ archive dungeon. Built around it is a massively catchy, piano embellished, rocker that details the deterioration of a girl who changed overnight from wife material to a hot mess being bankrolled by another guy. This song was accompanied by a lyric video shortly after the release of the album.
With such a large number of tracks, there was bound to be at least one that was going to be unnecessary filler. As with much of Detroit Stories and Magic Bus on Road, there is nothing at all wrong with I Ain’t Done Wrong, but this cover of the Group’s beloved Yardbirds just seems like an unnecessary mid-album inclusion.
See You On The Other Side, a further tribute to Glen Buxton, has roots back as far as 2002, where it appeared on the Bouchard Dunaway Smith album Live In Paris. Whereas What A Syd was a playful dig at their best buddy, this is the more sombre, heartfelt, reflection of the gaping hole he’s undoubtedly left in their lives. This song was accompanied by a lyric video a few months after the release of the album.
Despite it’s overly generous size, The Revenge of Alice Cooper is generally a triumph, far superior to the likes of Road and Detroit Stories and genuinely worthy of a spot somewhere between Billion Dollar Babies and Muscle Of Love in the echelons of greatness. It looks like an Alice Cooper Group album and it largely feels like an Alice Cooper Group album. The strong spiritual and physical presence of Glen, coupled with the outstanding contributions of Gyasi Heus and co. mean that the legacy of this iconic outfit is both magnificently honoured and, crucially, built upon to present something truly worthwhile a whole half-century later. If there’s to be a further album (The Curse of Alice Cooper?) then they’ve certainly earned the right to do it, and do it anyway they so please.
As eluded to above, the album features two bonus tracks, Return Of The Spiders 2025 and Titanic Overunderture. The first is a previously unheard, remastered and remixed version (by Bob Ezrin) of Return Of The Spiders, which originally appeared on the Easy Action album and features Glen Buxton on guitar. It's a great track and has a more up-beat, almost School's Out, vibe to it. Titanic Overunderture is a very welcome inclusion and features the iconic opening track from Pretties For You complete with the addition of haunting vocals by Alice. According to Dennis Dunaway, these vocals are from the original 1969 recording sessions of Pretties For You (he is unsure why they were not included on the album originally).
Upon release sales of the album, which was well promoted, were a success with it reaching high chart positions in a number of countries.
The Revenge of Alice Cooper Smart Poster

Inside the issue...
We talk to Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce about the triumphant return of the Alice Cooper Group.
"We did a gang sort of interview," says Alice, "and they asked: ‘Is this a one-off project?’ I went: ‘Who says it’s one-off? This album’s really good, why wouldn’t we do another one?’ I think I might have even shocked Neal, Dennis and Mike when I said that. I mean, the band is the band. They’ll always be my band. And I’ll always be their singer."
